Papagallo's line

I know the issue of R/Unrated versions has been discussed in other threads, just one of these things that always bug me as an original release viewer of films is lines missing in DVD/Bluray versions.
Such is once more the case here-when Papagallo speaks to the fuel community for the first time, there is a beautiful line "do we become like them?savages?I'll leave them nothing".
From what I've checked,it's one of the elements gone together with the original VHS tape, maybe existing only in a Japanese DVD edition, long OOP.
I was anxious to listen to this line again and it was gone,at least in the US BR.It stops at ''what then?''
Unreasonable thing, since we were able to have a less butchered version in our hands, after those crappy initial releases.

Interesting; I was never aware there was more to his speech. It's definitely not on the DVD I have, which is about ten years old.

I've thought about it, though: editing that part about blowing it up and leaving them nothing would have taken some of the suspense out of the first watching. I know that, when I first saw the film (oh, something like 30 years ago), I was as surprised as the marauders when the refinery exploded. So I think that was a good edit.

You have a point there but I still think that the ''what do we become, savages?'' line should have stayed because it clearly states the difference of philosophy between the two worlds(inside the community/outside)that will affect Max's mentality in the future and will make him want to live again like a human being.

That line still exists in the old DVD that I have, but it's pretty much inaudible. I didn't realize it was there until I played the movie with the subtitles on. The camera is focusing on Max's interaction with the Feral Kid, at the time.
