3 things that have always bugged me with The Road Warrior.

1- When Max drives the truck into the compound, a couple of marauders slip inside. There are at least 10 good guys with bows in there, yet Wez is able to move around and even stands still in plain sight without anyone ever shooting at him.

2- Max's departure from the compound with his car. The footage during the sunrise is sped up which looks silly. Speeding up car chases has been used in all Mad Max movies, but this one scene look really off. On top of that, Max loses control of his car from a single hit to his windshield without putting up a fight.

3- Pappagallo goes after the truck driving the "Lone Wolf" for what purpose exactly? He's alone and not armed. Once he's next to the truck he spots the feral kid and tries to save him, but up until that moment, his actions are pointless. They should have shown him ramming a couple of motorcycles or cars.

These are valid complaints. Yet it is still, hands down, the best of the franchise and the best post apocalypse movie.

The speeded up shot is pretty funny.

Amazing assless chaps didn’t make the list.

I realize people call then "assless chaps" because it sounds funny, but in reality, it is a redundancy. If chaps had asses, they would just be called "pants".

true, pantlessschaps-wearing guy might be better

Fwiw on point 3...

There is deleted footage of papagallo leading some cars off the road. Been years since I’ve seen it but I think it was slow motion footage of cars jumping over dunes. Tbh they weren’t great scenes but maybe that was their attempt to show PPGs purpose.

Other two points seem kinda nitpicky

VERY WELL THOUGHT OUT POINTS

1. Well, it was chaos inside the compound and the fact they didn't really know what to do when the enemy got inside their compound emphasizes how weak and desperate they've become.

2. Wez and his fellow marauders use shock and awe(and a good dose of nitro) to surprise and attack Max. Wex smashes Max's windshield with the exhaust pipe and the shattered glass blinds Max causing him to roll his interceptor and crash.

3. Pappagallo(and a few other settlers) won't completely leave Max and the feral kid twisting in the wind. They're attempting to provide protection. they do enough to keep Max going long enough for the rest of the settlers to escape with the guzzoline, ultimately sacrificing their lives. Even the Gyro Captain joins in to help out. When Max crashes the truck his hero friend Gyro Captain catches up to him. Max, Pappagallo, a few settlers, and Gyro Captain have successfully completed their mission.

In regards to the second point, I thought the fact that Max’s attempt to escape the compound in his own car ended in failure so quickly undercut his credibility when he later claimed to be the the best hope of driving the tanker to safety.

If you're going to drive down this road of criticism, you might as well wonder why the Gyro Captain didn't pack two dozen Molotov Cocktails. He could've taken out every bad guy vehicle.

Speaking of nitpicky points, I was always bothered by Humungous's impossible kill of Pappagallo with his trident. Given the cover provided by the back of Pappagallo's vehicle, plus Humungous having to hit a moving target, that shot was basically impossible. Miller cheated a bit with that kill.

Whole film is hopelessly dated. Not one EV even mentioned.

Which is why I prefer the 1st Max, where a semblance of a modern society still exists. You don't drive muscle cars in a fuel-scarce post apocalyptic setting.
