Villains!!!

In my opinion, as bad as Klinton Spilsbury's acting was... what more than made up for that was the portrayal of the film's villain, "Butch" Cavendish, played by none other than our own "Reverend Jim", Christopher Lloyd. The evil was just oozing out of every pore. Not a single warm cell in his entire body. So cold-blooded, he could freeze the sun. OK, I'm getting carried away here. But, he WAS great in that part!

I agree. By the way, for a reason I don't know, Spilsbury's voice was dubbed over by actor Stacy Keach.

The dubbing was done because, to be brief, Spilsbury did an awful job. The smart thing would've been to keep looking for another actor, but Spilsbury had "the look" the producers wanted, I suppose.

The rest of the cast did an excellent job, I feel, especially the over-the-top performance by Christopher Lloyd.

reply

Sorry, it was Stacy's brother James who did the dubbing. And okay, Lloyd was a

good villain, but the true villains were the screenwriters.

Lloyd was definitely the highlight of this film. His line delivery was incredibly cold and he actually pulled off a dark cape without looking hokey (not too many ppl can do that). The look he gives President Grant at the very end is just awesome.

I remember joking about this film (something about the horses being better actors than Klinton Spilsbury). At least Michael Horse didn't become a member of the "Whatever Happened To?" list, like he did. He landed parts in some pretty good films after this one, in addition to a couple of good series here and in Canada.

Hi :) I was wondering if you could tell me how much Screen time Lloyd has?

Thank you! :)

reply

I really don't have any idea of how much "screen time" he has, if you wanted an estimate in minutes, but... he IS the main villain in the film and second only to the title character. He's got quite a bit of screen time, but can't really tell you exactly how much. The film is worth watching ONLY for Lloyd's part as "Butch Cavendish".

Thanks for your response :) I shall have to be buying this then :)
