Finally on Blu-Ray! (better than I remembered)

So we finally got The Legend of the Lone Ranger on Blu-Ray (if they could just get the Black Hole out next that would be great). I bought it off amazon.com and watched it. It is a lot better than I remembered (and a lot better than what critics said). Sure is a lot better than the most recent version with Johnny Depp.

Now I'm not saying it is a perfect movie or without flaws (maybe I just watched it with low expectations) but it was actually not that bad.

It's already on Blu-Ray in Europe.

I an't afraid of no ghosts!

Yep, there's one out in Europe now so I assume that we here in the U.S. will get one as well. Hopefully soon too cuz I'm getting kinda tired of watching my old dvd with a network logo (technological equivalent of a fly) on the screen. LoL

I never get the impression this movie is really high on the studio's priority list to get out on blu-ray, but I hope it comes out soon though. If it does, I doubt the studio will give it the royal treatment, and just release it as a bare-boned disc with a poor transfer. At any rate, it has got to be better than that atrocious DVD release.

Just saw that Shout Factory is releasing it on July 14. Will only have the trailer as an extra, but SF's transfers are usually pretty good.

From the comments in some of the other threads, I suspect they wanted to avoid any comparisons between the two films...

Network just released a rather nice Blu-Ray in the UK on February 9 this year. Unfortunately it is region locked. The video has a lot of grain, but picture quality is still much higher than the previous copies that I'd managed to find.

The list of extras is fairly short - just the trailer and two soundtrack-only options.
