Great new article about 1981 movie

Just came across this informative article from 2013. They interviewed Spilsbury's former agent, a producer, a stuntman & a few of the actors including Chris Lloyd. They also talk about Spilsbury's difficulties, the infamous dubbing of his voice by another actor, the mistreatment of Clayton Moore & the overall development & reaction to the film after it came out. Great read & the best one I've seen so far of this underrated flick.

HahA! That was a great read. Always interesting to read behind-the-scenes stuff about movies I watched as a kid. Thanks for posting the link.

I think most of my dislike for the film is that it's really unbalanced. It takes them so long before he puts on the mask and he's only in wearing it for the last 20 minutes! It felt like the cut a lot of the story out, because it just seemeed rushed at that point. One of the few things I liked about the Disney Lone Ranger film was that they at least balanced out the time he was masked and unmasked. The dubbing of the Klinton Spilsbury wasn't much of an improvement, his acting felt just as wooden.

I an't afraid of no ghosts!

I like how they admit that the other actors thought Spilsbury's voice sounded fine and did not need dubbing. I just saw Spilsbury on a Lou Grant episode (Physical) and I thought Klinton had a fine voice. I think it was a major rip off of the audience to not let us decide whether his voice needed dubbing or not and especially so since the other actors had no problem with it. They should release the original track of his voice and rerelease the movie and let us hear his voice. And why dub all his lines?
I totally think they handled Clayton Moore wrong. It was totally disrespectful. Rather than get upset that Moore was wearing the mask at appearances, they should have sought his assistance with the movie's publicity. Their treatment of Moore is the reason the movie was not received well, not Spilsbury's acting, which I thought was very good.
This article does not trash Spilsbury's character like other articles I've seen.
