Lady Gaga...

Lady Gaga has totally stolen her entire image from this film. She may not have the skunk hair but she certainly ripped off everything else!!

Anybody else see it??

because she doesn't wear pants like corrine? i dont think so.

Take a look at the three photos of Dale Bozzio on this website, here's where some her inspiration came from, There's a line in the movie that was true then and even more true now, "Nothing is new anymore". It's so true, the only difference between the Lady Gaga generation and mine is that we wanted to know where our pop culture came from.

Saw this for the first time the other evening, wouldn't be surprised. I don't think anybody would give a s*** about Lady Gaga and her by-the-numbers dance-pop music if it wasn't for all her stupid attention-grabbing costumes.

reply

You know, I've been reading about Lady GooGoo for months now, and I can't name a single song she does. I remember her on "Saturday Night Live" a few weeks ago wearing an outfit that resembled an old slinky, but I can't even describe the song she sang (I assume she sang one) because it was so forgettable. What was I talking about again?

reply

Some Gaga songs I think are memorable and good:

Just Dance
Poker Face
Paparazzi
Bad Romance
Alejandro
Telephone

Anyway, I love the Stains' style, but...why would you necessarily single out Lady Gaga as a comparison, except that she's extremely popular now?

reply

And Siouxsie Sioux's style was absolutely no inspiration for Corrine's style, either?

reply

Of course Siouxsie was an inspiration for Corrine style, I never said Corrine was one of a kind and besides, Corrine isn't real, she's just a character. She isn't making money by copying others and calling it her own. I made this post after re-watching this and realizing that is why Gaga looked so familiar. I kept seeing photos of her in clothing I just couldn't place. It was right when Gaga was getting big and I couldn't understand why everyone was calling her an original when all I saw was an overused, overdone gimmick. Rereading my post, which I wrote heatedly right after viewing, I definitely would word it differently. The word entire shouldn't be there, she has taken from many others. I was venting and thats the way it came out. If that was your issue here then I understand, and hopefully have cleared up.

Not only Siouxsie Sioux but Jordan, who was the punk model for Westwood and McLaren when they owned the shop Sex, plus Toyah Wilcox. Adam Ant was also using similar make up in the late 70's when he sometimes performed with Jordan.

I give my respect to those who have earned it; to everyone else, I'm civil.

Lady Gaga stole a lot of her act from Dale Bozio from Missing Persons. If your influences are somewhat obscure people will think you are original.

I first saw "Ladies and Gentlemen ... The Fabulous Stains" in the mid '80s. It made me think of all the Madonna wannabees who were running around at that time.

..and David bowie... and Klaus Nomi....

Lady Gaga caters to an astounding musical ignorance by the younger generation who think music began with Madonna, Michael Jackson and the notion of image over talent, entertainer instead of artist.

reply

There are some excellent artists who are both entertainer and musician. The first two to come to mind are Elton John and Prince.

David Lee Roth stole his onstage persona from Jim Dandy of Black Oak Arkansas, a somewhat forgotten act from the '70s. Roth certainly didn't get famous because of his voice. But he is an excellent front man.

Axl Rose and other metal singers were influenced by Michael Monroe from Hanoi Rocks. Hanoi Rocks were an '80s Finnish metal band who never became big in the United States. The first time I listened to a Nazareth album it blew my mind how much Axl sounded like Dan McCafferty.
