DVD??????

This is a pretty cool flick from the golden age of slashers. I know that it's a really cheesy movie, but it scared the !&*# out of me when I saw it in '82. When something disturbs you during your childhood, you tend to remember it. It would be awesome if Anchor Bay or Blue Underground would acquire the rights and release it on widescreen DVD! Special features would be great, but I'll definately settle for just the remastered movie (it desperately needs to be lighter so we can actually see what's happening). Any other fans out there?

I do hope they come out with this movie on DVD.They need to do a digitally rematered version, make it brighter.

The Prey or The Final Terror are my guesses. Final Terror comes out on DVD soon.

I dont think it is The Prey, that was where they were just camping and running around on a mountain, i dont remember anything about a river or a raft on that one. It could be Final Terror. I havent seen that one, so I am not sure on that.

becareful of what you wish for...It may come true.

reply

Definately Final Terror

reply

The raft and river part sounds like Final Terror, but not the dumpster or cave.

I really hope there is a DVD release, considering half the crap that gets put on DVDs that is nowhwere near as good as this film.
I'm sure there will be one at some point, and when there is, hopefully Humongous will find new life.

I wouldn't mind if Anchor Bay released it on one of their Drive-In Double features with another 80's slasher. And I agree the picture needs to be lightened...it's a fun slasher flick, and I've seen far worse released(Even through Anchor Bay- Hell Gate for instance).

Even Don't Go In the Woods is getting Special Edition DVD treatment through Code Red DVD.

reply

Yes! Let's have this. Come on Anchor Bay. We're all waiting to buy it.

I'm about to go pick up American Gothic for 5 bucks at a local store. It'd be awesome if I could double feature with this one.

Merry Christmas! Hee.

I found it at the store call Freds. I can't wait to watch it again. But I'm saving it for October and my insane Horrorthon I have every year. I remember it being much more disturbing, but it was still a hoot to see it again after what seems like many many years.

I was really hoping Humongeous would make it this year. :(

reply

hey dude!!
Whats up buddd? hope all is well. thanks for the reply. i was like what the hellll?? then remembered i wrote about A/G. tell me about your Horrorthon? i love the sound of it already. HEY DID YOU SEE/HEAR about HATCHET?? THEY released new commercial previews. Looks very very interesting; probably up our alley! it says its theatrical release is SEPT. 7th. what's up with HALLOWEEN being released in two weeks? i don't understand that. it would make more money if released in october. very wierd. anyhow dont' want to take up your time. ciao GLENN

Hey. Sorry I missed your post Glenn. The Horrorthon last year went great until the final third. My old dog died (natural causes at almost 16 years old!!) and that kind of took away the desire to do it. It was still fun up until then. Watched and enjoyed American Gothic all over again. I got a lot of new flicks, including the entire Friday the 13th series from 1 to 11. Most of those were fantastic seeing them again. I made it up to 100 flicks this year when I quit watching on about 10/22.

Anyway, still watching for this film to come out. I've heard rumors around on the net. Maybe.....

I was all set for this past halloween. i got into my storage facility and grabbed all the best masks and props etc... getting ready to scare the kiddies... would you f'n believe not ONE KID SHOWED UP!!!! i was like Damn!!!!
so i ordered chineese food and hung out with my dog watching the CHILLER channel on cable. cought some cool horror flicks i've never seen or heard of before. typical tv trash. but entertaining at the least.

have you watched: HATCHET yet? let me know what you think. also. ALL THE BOYS LOVE MANDY LANE is getting some great reviews but not out yet. been held back several times now. sucks! glad u watched the friday films. part 4 is my all time favorite. the writing, the directing and editing and clearly the gore was amazing. it was a serious well done flick. 1-4 are my faves. 5 was good for its time and i loved the long chase scene at the end. melanie kinnaman was pretty cool. Kimberly Beck is all my all time fave F13 girl though. anyhow im writing way too much. just got into work and got your note. chat me up anytime bud. happy new years GLENN

My holidays weren't bad. Thanks for asking.

I don't think I've had a trick or treater in 12 years. My neighborhood is scary even when it isn't Halloween. Heh!

Haven't seen Hatchet but I'll look for it.

I forgot which F13 flicks I liked best. But I think I pretty much liked the same ones you did. I remember 4 or 5 being great. The one with that kid from Stand by Me, Goonies and Burbs (can't remember his name, Cory something). There's one F13 chick with an wonderful set of natural looking tah tahs. Truly amazing.

If The Burning deserves a DVD then Humongous most certainly does too. Janet Julian is superb as the last girl standing.

This film was released on DVD by Scorpion Releasing. Alas, said DVD is now out of print and selling for mad money on the Internet. I'm so glad I picked the DVD up at a reasonable price from a local mom'n'pop alternative music store in Central New Jersey when it first came out.
