What are better werewolf movies?

I just watched the scream factory Blu ray of this flick, an I have to say I was really disappointed. This movie might have been groundbreaking in the 80s, but now it's just too slow. Nothing happens until the last 20 minutes! What are werewolf movies that are actually scary and not boring?

Bad Moon get's a very bad wrap (pun not intended). It was a highly enjoyable werewolf flick that's based off a highly enjoyable book. The transformation scene leaves a lot to be desired, but I enjoyed the werewolf and the limited use of early CGI. It also has a fun amount of gore, nothing too intense but good usage of it given the subject matter.

I wouldn't say it's in the same league as Dog Soldiers, Ginger Snaps, or An American Werewolf in London, but it certainly holds its own and is just as enjoyable as The Howling

I also love Bad Moon. It probably just needed a couple more kill scenes though.

I do not know a better werewolf movie. I am a big Joe Dante fan and this is easily his darkest movie. There is something special about The Howling. The atmosphere is just set so well by Dante. I'd say the next best is AWIL which I'm sure you've seen. I like Landis quite a bit and the movie is good, but The Howling is just one of those flicks I can't do without. Early 80s is also one of my favorite times for movies.

Wolf with Jack Nicholson and Michelle Pfeiffer! A Werewolf movie made with class.

reply

Wolf? He didn't even look like a werewolf. He looked like a hairy person with pointed ears and sharp teeth. I thought we'd seen the end of those so-called "werewolves".

Not 'better', but equally good:

Silver Bullet
Wolfen
An American Werewolf In London

Did you really just suggest Wolfen as a werewolf movie? And from someone who called The Howling too slow?

Hint: Don't watch Wolfen. Instead, watch that episode of The X-Files where that guy turns into a wolf. It is equally terrible.

Who said The Howling was too slow?

The OP...

Wolfen isn't a werewolf movie

reply

Wolfen is not a werewolf movie.

I would add The Company of Wolves (1984)

Only An American Werewolf in London is better.

I still think Dog Soldiers is better than In The Company of Wolves but I did love that movie

reply

American Werewolf is beneath contempt. Werewolves ARE NOT FUNNY. John Landis is gay asshole.

Dog soldiers and The Company of Wolves are head, shoulders and bellybutton above American Feckless in London. So is The Howling and Ginger Snaps and the remake of The Wolfman and Stephen kings silver bullet. Vampire movies and shows

Nurse Jenney Agutter and I disagree......

While I do agree that this film was more startling in its time, and hasn't aged as well as I thought it would.
But I disagree that it was slow. I thought it built suspense perfectly, and it told a story, something that is sorely lacking in a lot of films these days.
The atmosphere & cinematography was PERFECTION, it couldn't have been done better.

Another werewolf movie that is good is Silver Bullet. The effects are not so great as this movie, but it still is scary.

"Didn't he discover America?"
"Penfold, shush."

I can’t tell you how much I despise your gay signature.

There are no better werewolf movies. I actually like horror movies when they are "slow" because they give time for us to get well acquainted with the characters and story. Horror movies that are all action packed the entire running time and don't give us time to get to know the characters have always bored me. If I don't know the characters, I won't care what happens to them. And if I don't care what happens to the characters, what's the point in watching the film? So I feel that's a very important thing this film does well. It also has a great atmosphere and a wonderful, interesting, well written story. This movie isn't terribly action packed because it doesn't need to be. It tells a great story and I think it's one of the best werewolf movies (if not the absolute best) ever made.

Death lives in the Vault of Horror!

The Howling
American Werewolf in London
Wolf (with Jack Nicholson)
Ginger Snaps (a different sort of wolf movie, but really good, believe it or not)

There are others that are entertaining and worth watching, but those four above are the best, IMO.

So you never saw Dog Soldiers, so swallow my cum repeatedly.

Your alleged opinion sucks.

Here’s another one: Meridian, as sexy a lycanthrope movie as will ever entertain you.

I know:Your dumb ass never heard if it, but you are an expert on werewolf lore, right?
