That hamburger looked so disgusting!!

Granted, I don't eat beef, but if I were ever to try one, I wouldn't be visiting that dive bar anytime soon. That burger looked like a sh!t patty! Maybe she shouldn't have ordered it rare?

reply

LOL It did look awful.
Hamburger can be delicious. But the funny part of that scene is while she ordered it rare, it was clearly NOT being cooked that way.
It was well-done by the end of the credits! Plus, it made no sense as to why the cook kept flipping it until it broke to pieces.

I thought he was overcooking it as well. If I were Marsha, I would've asked for a refund.

Ok, stupid question from a lifelong veggie...but why do people order their meat all bloody like that? How can you even get past the visual? Always wondered...

reply

The longer meat is cooked, the more juice is cooked out, and it also makes the meat itself firmer (i.e. tougher).

The visual...well, that's just a personal thing, it doesn't bother me, but I usually order my meat medium-rare, just because rare cools off too quickly for me.

reply

Ohhh, the cooling off thing makes sense. Is it actually blood, though, or is it just juices looking like blood because the meat is still red? I can't believe I'm asking this, but I grew up in a veggie family, & I've always had a weird curiosity about this stuff. I also think a man in a kick-ass furry hat would be the right man to ask!

reply

Actually, it's water and a protein in the meat, not blood.

I'm glad you like the hat! I have a problem wearing it some days because it's rabbit fur, and my dog tries like hell to get at it and tear it to shreds.

For the record, I actually don't eat a lot of meat, a few times a week. I love my veggies! 🌽

reply

Thanx for humoring my stupid questions! Lol

reply

Haha - your questions were hardly stupid. 😀

reply

If you cook a burger or steak too long you end up with dry tough meat that is crispy and burned. If you cook less you have much juicier and tender meat.

Best for me is crispy and burned on the outside and juicy and red on the inside.

Beef doesnt need to be cooked 100% like chicken and poultry does, so its safe to eat it like that.

What I wondered also was why the fresh hell did that cook KEEP turning it over & over & over??
He turned it into a lump of crap! The guy acted like he'd never cooked a burger before.

I like my meat medium rare. I would have sent that burger back.

Looked fine to me. That scene made me hungry for one.

reply

I will say I like my hamburgers and steak Medium well. Never got the appeal of eating red meat that is undercooked and filled with blood.

Of course, you all get the comedy of the scene, right? The cook asks her how she wants it, and she looks directly at the camera and says "Rare", hinting that she survived the fire at the compound and is back out ... hunting fresh meat.
