Very important question!

Not a bad movie! Except they could have done better with the lighting.
I have a couple important questions if anyone is able to answer them.

After Harold killed Susan Jeremy's brother. Fast forward to 19 years.
Harry (aka Harold) is at the hospital I know that. Does Harry work there as an intern/Doctor? It seems that he did when he communicated with Dr Saxon. That's my first question is did he work there.

My second question is: when Harold killed susan's brother...why wasn't Harold arrested or sent to a psychiatric hospital. It seems as he got away with murder or Susan covered it up.

Any thoughts?

Harry refers to himself as a "lowly intern" when Susan first encounters him in the doctors' lounge. The other doctors knew his name. It seems clear that he worked at the hospital.

We are not told what happened after Harold killed Susan's brother. There were no witnesses to the incident (even Susan didn't actually SEE Harold kill her brother--she only saw him looking in the window afterward). Harold most probably ran away after Susan saw him (He certainly wouldn't have stuck around.).

It is unlikely that Susan would've "covered" for Harold. Why would she? It seems clear that she didn't like him.

Remember, this took place in 1961, and all involved were young children. Police, parents, etc. at that time would have been extremely unlikely to believe someone their age would be capable of something like this, regardless of what Susan had said (they probably would have thought that she only "imagined" that she saw Harold outside the window, etc.).

Hope this helps.

Thanks, and have a great day.

Thanks alot Sam it does help. Yeah I forgot it was 1961 when it happened. The good ole days when crime was a rarity back then.

But man! That sure is a long time to harbor revenge! He was one sick dude! But a very smart one.

Thanks again.

It's quite possible that Susan went into some sort of shock after the incident, unable to so much as tell what had happened.

That certainly is a possibility. But even if she had been able to tell what happened, it is highly likely, for the reasons previously given, that she would not have been believed.

"Except they could have done better with the lighting."

I've learned not to judge the cinematography of a movie from watching an old VHS transfer of it. VHS often made well-shot films look very bad.

It's actually not her brother that's killed, he's a friend.

My question here is how did he get into the house without so much as making a sound? And out as well without a sound? Also, how did he manage to get him up on the coat rack like that? He didn't look too tall enough to do it, and quite possibly lacked the strength to lift him that high up.

Also, the valentine that Harold got for Susan would have quite possibly been submitted as evidence had the police got involved.

This is the type of movie that will also have you asking questions such as "Hey, wasn't she just strapped down (never LOOKED really strapped in in any scene I saw) when she stabbed him? How was she able to get up off the gurney and run no problem? Was I just high or was it the director? I don't know...it's a run of the mill cash in on early 1980s slashers. Throw everything out the window including the bathtub and baby when it comes to logic in these movies.

Harold came in through the window. Susan hears noise twice before investigating, with the cake. If you look at David's body dangling, there is also a necktie dangling. I believe he strung him up, then went back out through the window. It's clearly open when she sees Harold there.

was that her brother though? I thought he was at first, but she says "look what my mom made for us" when she walks in the room with the valentine's cake. but that line didn't jive with the fact that they were obviously playing with his train set in the living room.
