Above average 80's Slasher

I wasn't expecting much after the many reviews I read, but I actually somewhat enjoyed this one. It's a bit different with the characters and plot than the usual early 80's fare. This film features a very diverse group of young adults in a group home(?) of some sort having a Thanksgiving dinner party. However, people keep leaving for various reasons (need more wine, need gasoline, etc.) and all never return. It finally breaks down to the two central characters (the best looking couple in the film) and a young girl whom they care for during the ordeal. As they start to figure out something must be wrong, as no one is back yet and the Turkey is getting cold...it's already too late! The killer is in the house and he'll make stuffing out of you!

The deaths were average- death by car, death by car hood, strangulation and throat cutting were all involved, although most were off screen and I have to say the car hood made no sense...there wasn't enough impact to actually KILL the guy, but whatever...

The Killer was a bit over-the-top, all of that maniacal laughing wore thin pretty quick, but I guess he's strung out on PCP. It would have been better if there were more stalking scenes and less shown of the killer, but it WAS "Body-By-Jake's" big film premiere so I guess he was suppossed to hog the camera the entire time.

I've watched alot of 80's slashers (probably atleast 85% of all created!) and I have seen MUCH WORSE than this. I was entertained enough through the whole thing I didn't get sleepy and the characters, although initailly a bit annoying, DID finally start to grow on me.

Just don't expect anything close to the faux Eli Roth trailer "Thanksgiving", or you will be totally let down. I would compare this more to "The Mutilator" without all the cool gore scenes. I give it 6.5/10 on the 80's slasher scale.

I seriously beg to differ. I'll grant that setting the film on a Thanksgivings was original, but other than that, this was the most boring slasher film I have ever had to suffer.
