Hell Night will NOT be on BLU-Ray....

well, maybe it will but it would be useless because the source material is soft and fuzzy.... BLU-RAY is about *RETAINING* the clarity of the source material which in this case, there is none......

Oh I don't know, the print used for the Anchor Bay DVD looks pretty good so they could just port it over on BD in 1080p and it'll probably look great. If not perhaps they might remaster it someday.

That's an extremely absurd claim. The best video we have for the film right now is a dvd made in the early years of the format's growth. I can certainly see great potential for a high definition image because the cinematography, locations, and sets are ripe for the format. I don't see where one can say the source material is fuzzy since I doubt you have seen a good source print projected by a decent projector (person and machine). There have been films on blu-ray that no one would have thought to look good that do (Evil Dead, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, The Last House on the Left, I Spit on Your Grave, City of the Living Dead, etc.), so I'd not make such a claim at this point in time.

This is a completely idiotic thread, OP. My first copy of this was a former-rental video of the first VHS release with a washed-out, fuzzy picture where the colors were muted and it was often too dark to make out details. I upgraded to Anchor Bay's VHS in the mid-90s and then their DVD at the turn of the century and was astounded by the clarity and lush colors. That transfer is almost 20 years old, so I would love to see how much it would pop in HD. With Shout/Scream Factory now picking up the ball that Anchor Bay dropped so long ago, I really hope to see it get a Blu-Ray transfer.

I would also love to see this movie released on Blu-ray. It would also be great to have extras like behind the scenes footage, deleted scenes and commentary as well.

I hope Scream Factory picks up this movie and put's it out on Blu-ray soon.

I really hope this gets the blu ray treatment it desevres one day. Day one purchase for me for sure.

This is part of the reason I'm not so quick to make a complete switch over to Blu-ray. Until recently I've never felt an urge to start going Blu-ray. As of right now I'm considering getting a player so I have the flexibility for new releases that are Blu-ray only, but at the same time there are still a lot of titles that I know are probably not going to make it to Blu-ray anytime soon, so I still feel partial to sticking with DVDs. There are some titles that may never get picked up for a Blu-ray edition ever that did get DVD treatment.

I really can't think of many films that are blu-ray only, but you can always get a blu-ray player for higher quality films that ARE on blu-ray, and then just play your DVD's on it. In fact, your blu-ray player will automatically heighten the quality of DVD's a tad bit.
