Concering the Barbarian King

Did anyone else get the feeling the only reason the dude became the leader of the barbarians is because of his cybernetic arm?

I don't even think he was necessarilly the leader before the Loc-Nar covered them, I just think he happened to be in the front of the group and had that cybernetic arm, which made him tougher than all the others. Don't ask me why, I just like this idea for some reason.
