the introduction of the prosthetic hand was startlingly convincing,which is to say,it wasn't a hook,but an actual hand per se.since this film is not sci fi(really)or set in the future,could anyone tell me if they did in fact invent something like this about 25 years ago and have been using it, at least sometimes,for amputees ever since.

On that page, you can see that the technology goes far back, and from the looks of the image the hand did possess movement. It's a guess though I haven't looked it up all the way.
