Possible plot goof...

When Michael enters the Elrod house to steal the knife, you can hear the newscaster on the tv say police found three bodies in the upstairs house of the home behind him (the Wallace home). After Michael kills the girl next door, we cut to the front of the Doyle house where it's full of cops and Bud and Jimmy wheel Laurie to the ambulance and you can see the Wallace house in the background and it's all dark and nothing is going on. Later Bud tells Jimmy they got another call and they go the Wallace house to get the bodies. Seems like the earlier scene with the newscaster was put into the film way too early.
Any thoughts?

It was definitely shot out of sequence and out of place. One of the many flaws of this movie.
