why does everyone say that there is always a problem with region 1 dvds

are they always cut???? or just made bad

reply

A lot of the classics from other countries that have seen a region one realease have extreme edits due to extreme gore.

dam so what movies do you know off hand that have cuts, alot of these companies claim to have them completly unedited

reply

A lot of the classics were heavily cut when they were first released in this region. One example was E tu vivrai nel terrore - L'aldilĂ  (1981)A.K.A. The Beyond by Lucio Fulci. When it first was released, it was released as Seven Doors of Death and was edited quite a bit. Since that time, it has been released uncut.

As for which ones have cuts I don't know for sure. The best way to find out if a movie is uncut or not for me is to hit the Internet. Sorry I can't be more help than that.

Slave To The Cannibal God AKA Mountain Of The Cannibal God

I've yet to track down a REAL unedited version. The most I've gotten a hold of has minor cuts. I forgot the exact length of the cuts.

Now they are, but a lot of the classics were originally heavily cut. I agree that the UK is a lot worse than what the US has done. I still think it is funny that the UK had a video nasties list.

Yup, we can thank the British press for that, the Daily Mirror in particular. Hysteria has ruined many a good horror film in the U.K. The worst part is, until the films are re-submitted to the BBFC and then re-released we Brits are stuck with heavily censored films. God bless E-bay!

When I'm not here I'm listening to DEADPIT.COM , HORROR TALK RADIO !!!

The UK is a lot better now when it comes to the censorship of graphic gore, virtually anything can get by the BBFC now. When it comes to sexual violence & animal cruelty though that's still a controversial issue in the UK and will invariably be cut. That's why stuff like Cannibal Holocaust & I Spit on your Grave will alway's be censored over here, and that's why multi-region dvd players and the internet is so popular in the UK.
