Got suckered in again!

Much like I was suckered into buying the crapfest that was "Snuff." I found and bought the uncut bootleg version (bad me) of this junk and it still was awful. The infamous fetus eating scene is WEAK! If you must have this, go ahead...but don't buy into the hype. The gore is weak, which is the only reason to buy the uncut version.

G'Vorn out...

that is too bad man!!! I just bought the region 1 DVD on half for $5.00 of course is the cut version... I should not expect much then, right??? What really happens in the fetus scene?

C'mon now! This movie is good crap!... like Silent Night, Deadly Night Part 2

The Stuff is awesome and is a great shitty movie, but I can't speak for this movie having not have seen it. Thats why I like dvds because its easier to find uncut movies.

Anthropophagus and it's sequel are pure Italian schlock splatter...crass and offensive but a hundred times better than the Nazi experiment camp crap-fests that did the rounds at the same time during the golden era of video nasties. We're talking D'Amato not Argento here...what on earth do you expect from a porno director with an ex-porn star playing the lead? For serious nastiness from the same director check out Beyond The Darkness which is suprisingly good. P.s. The 'foetus' was a skinned rabbit for anyone who's interested...great atmospheric music tho'.

I think this movie rocked. Personaly, I`m not a fan of Italian horror. Mostly of Argentos and Fulcis movies bore me to death. Ive heard that this movie was pretty slow, and I`m not so fan of slow horrormovies but my curiosity made me check it out, and that gave me an awesome night og frights. Yes, its slow, but its somehow not so boring. It had a great horror-soundtrack that added up the feeling, great atmosphere, great climax, and of course a great villain. Its not VERY gory, but gory enough to keep me satisfied.

clips from this film have featured on 'news at ten' in the uk citing it as a snuff movie. well it was 1980 and the uk went video nasty crazy banning movies for anything from gore to cover art. This gave poor films cult status and turkeys that should have sliped into obscurity became sort after classics.
i have the original vhs of this movie running at a little over 88m and have seen some versions of this running at as little as 70m cutting some of the nasty stuff from a couple of scenes. not a great horror by any means but good music and loads of gore worth a look if only to scratch from the banned list.

This film DID show up on prime-time news, but not in 1980. There were a series of raids carried out by Trading Standards officers and members of the Police force at various postal traders addresses all across the UK in about '92 or '93, and this would probably have slipped through un-noticed had it not been on a 3 hour VHS tape as a double feature with Man Behind The Sun.

Man, did THAT film come in for some stick :)

Instead of "sort after" I assume you mean "sought after"

camruud, you're a gay if Fulci's "Zombie" or his "Gates OF Hell/City Of The Living Dead" bore you... Those ARE classics!!!

Anthropophagus and it's sequel

i just have to ask any 1, what was the sequel to this film

thanks

I'm a couple years late to the party (as per usual), but I had no clue Absurd was the sequel to Anthropophagus! Thanks for that. I've been looking for it (Absurd) for a while now.

He said "SNUFF", not "THE STUFF".

I love The Stuff. Better than this, and everything else mentioned in this thread!!!

"Fellas, don't drink that coffee! There was a fish....... IN the percolator!"

The Stuff is an amazing movie. Even my wife likes it and she hates old silly films like that. But alas, this isn't the movie the OP is talking about. He left referring to "Snuff" (1975). Years and years ago, I, like the OP, was fooled by an awesome looking new special edition DVD release. It sucks something fierce. Complete waste of time and money.

I feel the same way. This is just another crummy, boring Italian "horror" flick that has no plot and wastes 90 minutes of your life. I'll never learn. But from now on, I'm reading this section, not just the BS reviews that say how great the movie is.
