I gather she didn't go into acting, which is such a loss to the profession as far as I'm concerned!

She really does a remarkable job (in the true sense of the word). It's amazing she didn't continue in acting. I haven't seen this film in years; but it was on TCM recently and I wanted to see it again. She really does stand out: natural, unforced, composed.
By the way, I didn't see a post from a 'Daveweaving.' It must have dropped off.
That's odd. I didn't see it either. He posted it back around 2007. If I remember correctly, he stated that Allison Forster did some local theater in Scotland but that she was no longer in films or that acting was not her main source of income. Does anyone else remember that?

I got into a pretty lively and informative board discussion with "martin-johnstone" He apparently lived in or near the village where Gregory's Girl was filmed, when it was filmed. Good stuff there if you haven't read it already.
shareAllison Forster ended up moving to Canada. Burlington, Ontario to be exact. I went to high school with her younger brother and my sister used to work as a waitress with her at a pancake restaurant in our town. I never knew that she was in a movie until someone told me one day. We rented the video and got a good laugh. I remember having a huge crush on her. She was very nice and kind. Her accent was almost completely gone by the time I new her. I remember she seeing her as a waitress at a few other places in town but eventually we lost touch around 1992.

shareGiven that GG was filmed in the summer of 1980, when the school they used was not in session, I'm guessing Allison could have been anywhere between 10 and 13 at the time. Now? Maybe between 43 and 46?
shareCloser to 13. When I watched it I thought she was about 13 despite being short and in the plot a character says she looks 13. In an interview with Ross Owen, she says she thinks she was 12 at the time (so probably almost 13).
