Garde à vue: huh?

Can anyone tell me what this film was about? Did Martinaud rape and murder the two girls or not? If not what was his shame? Why did he confess to the crime of child rape? What could be more scandalous? Why did his wife murder herself? Were they complicit in something larger? Martinaud says that he loved Camille. His wife appeared jealous. And...? The ending is extremely confusing. Was a body planted in Jabelain's trunk? Can anyone help? This whole film seems very murky. Maybe that's the point, but I'm not satisfied.

Sorry ... but, really ... everything is in the movie ...
you have to ponder it a little more :-D

... you will find al lot of clues there, as the film "Under Suspicion" is obviously the us-remake (with a "slightly" different ending)

Great cast, great movie. Lino Ventura is my favourite stone faced gangster, but he played the cop to perfection in Garde a Vue. Serrault does sweaty and nervous like he invented it.

Under Suspicion is a pretty good movie, but it pales in comparison to the original.

You should watch it again. Everything is there!

This sounds kind of like a movie called Deceiver with Tim Roth and many other well known actors. He played a son of a rich family questioned by two detectives over a sex murder of a young woman.

In this movie too you have to pay close attention to what is said and the actions of people because nothing is spelled out for you. But is you look close and listen the clues are there.

I wish someone who felt so sure like the other guys who replied just shared his view! In my opinion Jabelain was the killer and Martinaud just got depressed at his family life and gave up on life by confessing to a murder he didn't commit. His wife killed herself out of guilt for pointing the finger at her husband when he was innocent.
