Do you think Joey got punished?

The film sort of implies that Joey might have been molested by the REALLY creepy carny who caresses him as he sleeps. And when the mom sees Joey sleeping, and sees the Carny caressing him, she gets this really dark, knowing look in her eyes and seems to understand what has happened. The father seems a little more oblivious. It's a truly chilling scene. I feel like the mother at that point would feel more grateful just to have found her son alive under the circumstances.

I hope so, especially because of Joey's stalking activity.

He could've. If he told exactly what happened to him I think they'd feel so terrible about it that they'd have mercy. If he stayed silent I imagine they would've punished him until he told them exactly what happened.

Joey's punishment was rape and sodomy by the old dude :/
