Why did Jason always use the dull side of the machete in this?

When he slit the guys throat that was upside down he used the dull side, when he chopped wheelchair guy in the face it was the dull side. And it looked weird everytime he did it.

And when he kills Vickie with the butcher knife its upside down, dude has no idea how to properly use weapons in this.

Not like he had much to learn from!

I mean the guy had been living on his own in the wild since he was a child, if anything you'd think he'd know how to properly use weapons like a machete. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know the sharp end of the machete from the dull end.

Then maybe he likes that it inflicts a little more pain using the end that won't cut through so easily?

You can make that argument for wheelchair guy, but theres physically no way a machete can cut your throat with the dull side the way he cuts the upside down guys throat, that kill has always looked dumb to me.

Maximum pain.
