I always thought she really did get killed and that shot at the end was just a dream.

I don't think it was a dream because Paul was gone at the end and Ginny wouldn't have had time to take a nap that quickly.

I'll admit its debatable, but I tend to think it was a dream. Plus the first and third ones ended with dreams.

This is an ongoing debate on this board. Personally, I don't think the ending is a dream, nor do I think the dead animal Jeff and Sandra find is Muffin.
