What if Disney did a live action remake?

It's happened with Dalmations, Alice and soon Maleficent and Jungle Book. But what about Fox and the Hound?

Could be a disaster. Or could be kind of awesome with the right director. To work:

1. They would need to keep it period piece.

2. Keep it stuck in the Appalachians.

3. Cut the songs.

4. Beef up the Tweed and Slade parts.

6. No cheap fart humor added.

5. Lengthen the period when Copper and Tod are youngsters having adventures.

6. Keep the bittersweet, tear-jerking ending.

So what does everyone else think?

Well, guessing from lack of a response to my question, no one would see the movie.

I think it would be really good, and in a sense maybe be more emotional... if I can choose the casting, and not go for ridiculously well known actors and more for people who work well to the character, something that's failing with today's cinema...!

I would probably want to see a live action "Fox and the Hound"; it might very well be interesting...

I'd totally see it, and probably love it IF they did all those things and kept it in that old-school Disney style of live-action animal movies (The Incredible Journey, Homeward Bound, Old Yeller, Big Red, Greyfriar's Bobby, Savage Sam, The Legend of Lobo, The Biscuit Eater, The Hound Who Thought He Was a Raccoon, etc.)

Actually, aside from the cars and the old-style double-barrelled shotgun, there isn't that much technology wise that would change what period it is in, to the point that it wouldn't really matter what period it is in.

And since the only two human characters are older people, they directors could get away with only using older cars, because if they both had their cars for a long time, they would still have a car from the 70s or the 80s.

I only watched this for the first time ever TODAY! And the whole time I was watching it, I thought that everything about the woman in the movie reminded me of Sally Field. Everything from the mannerisms to the voice of this character made me think of her. If they wanted to do a live-action version of the movie, Sally Field would be my go-to for the female character.

Queen Latifah could do Big Mama (the voice of the owl). It also suits her to a tee, and the movie character yet again reminded me of the actual person. I would STILL want the songs - there wasn't that much in the first place, and since Queen Latifah can sing, she could do the songs too.

The only thing I'd want to see changed is that they should maybe make the bond between Copper and Chief much stronger, especially over the time that they go away. I just didn't buy Copper's sudden rage at Tod for causing Chief to come to harm. This really needs to be sold more.

And whoever did the effects for the recent Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe movie should do the effects on creating the animals for this movie. Or the people who did Life of Pi... they were really life-like CGI animals. I didn't even know that it wasn't a real tiger used in the filming of Life of Pi until somebody else told me. I want the animals to look as realistic as possible but actually talk - see their mouths move. And of course emote really well too - sometimes with the WRONG effects company they can make good looking animals but when they talk, the animals have no emotion on their faces. Getting the emotions right is an absolute must.

If anything - I want to see the girlfriend Fox removed. I thought she was an unnecessary character. If she stays, then Copper should get a female companion as well. I didn't like how Tod found someone and Copper didn't. Either keep them both single and friends, or let them go their separate ways with their own love interests.

Spot on with Sally Field as Widow Tweed. Jeff Bridges would make a fantastic Amos. Latifah would make a solid Big Mama. I'm okay with her singing to the characters - if it's restrained.

I think Vixey should stay, but maybe a longer development to the their relationship.

Yes, they should talk.

If Disney is now making live action "Dumbo," "Night on Bald Mountain," and "Sword in the Stone," there's NO reason a live action Fox and the Hound shouldn't happen.

I'd support a live action remake. They already did Cinderella and they're doing Beauty and the Beast, so why not? In a related note, could we ever get a live action remake of The Lion King? That would be pretty cool.

Live action Lion Kng could be amazing, but would be very expensive to capture the splendor.

Since "Jungle Book" has been a huge hit, the live action remake of Fox and Hound definitely should now happen.
