Never watch this movie post Break-Up

Seriously. And I don't mean a significant other per se, just anyone. Watching this movie after losing anyone for any reason is devastating. For that matter if you're going through any sort of deep issues like depression, mid-life crisis, deep nostalgia for better times, etc. it can really bring it all to the forefront. For a kid's movie this is extremely emotional. I always enjoyed the movie as a kid, and it's in my top 10 movies of all time, but as an adult I just find it extremely painful. It's a very bittersweet movie for me because I think it's a beautiful film and yet I actively avoid it to not ruin my mood.

Some months back I had to baby sit my kid cousin and we were browsing through Netflix. He begged me to put it on Fox and the Hound. I love the movie, but I was already dealing with an episode of depression due to a break-up and complete loss of contact with someone. I didn't want to burst out crying in front of my 5 year old cousin, and it is a great movie so didn't want to deny him the chance of seeing it but I had to just walk out of the room a moment.

But even when not dealing with issues in my life, it still manages to bring up memories of long lost childhood friends.

Has anyone else experienced this? I'm admittedly an extremely emotional person to the point I have to hide it in relationships to appear masculine and not freak them out, but this movie has more impact on me than any other piece of media out there.

That's another reason why I've never dated anyone ever.
