Bibi vs. Melina

On the female front the film features grief-stricken brunette Melina (Carole Bouquet) and bubbly teen figure skater Bibi (Lynn-Holly Johnson). Although some find winsome Lynn-Holly annoying as curvy Bibi, she's a highlight of the film and one of the best 'Bond girls' in the franchise IMHO. Her naïve, spirited disposition works as a necessary counterpoint to Melina's comatose solemnity.

One can't help but respect James for declining Bibi's "Let's have a roll in the sack" antics. She was obviously too young and -- despite her tempting curves and eager willingness -- Bond had a moral line he refused to cross. His response to Bibi is priceless: "Well, you get your clothes on and I'll buy you an ice cream." Johnson, incidentally was 21-22 during shooting while her character was around 16-17.

I was about 10 or so when I saw this and I loved Bibi. That Greek girl didn't appeal to the 10-year old me at all. I had a crush on the Bibi girl.

Yeah, Melina was too one-note grim (which is understandable since she was grieving and seething with vengeance) whereas Bibi was ultra-cute, curvy and full of life. James should be commended for nobly resisting her advances.

Melina, no question.
Somewhere on the editing floor, Bond did Bibi.
