Have the AntiChrist become King Herod

What a cop-out, resulting in such a lame ending.

What I mean is, Damien could've put up a fight against the Second Coming of Christ, but he makes a fatal mistake by killing a teenage acolyte and having his mother, who was there at the time, come after him with a weapon that can kill him? All to stop a priest?

Looks to me like the writers took the easy way out, even though it resulted in many infant deaths, when many expected a spectacular supernatural battle between Christ and the AntiChrist. Guess the budget simply didn't stretch that far, eh?
