Was the dog real???

The dog it showed Andrew carrying and draining blood from looked REAL. I mean, I've never seen a fake animal look that realistic. I really hope it wasn't, it would totally shatter my enjoyment of this movie. Does anyone know?

Consider me *beep* Willy *beep* Wonka, this is my *beep* chocolate factory! Got it?!

I dont want ur filthy fx blood money.....never mind I do want it

reply

Amazing how someone has the nerve to call someone else a "dumby" and not be able to spell the word correctly.

I'm pretty sure the dog was not real.

I believe the dog was real but will check with my husband, Greg, who was in the film. But don't worry, the technology allows for blood packets and tubes to be inserted allowing the bleeding to look real. Just check out "Christ", who had blood spurting everywhere (and it was October in way upper NYS when it was filmed -- the poor guy FROZE!).

Lologgia had a thing about blood and had anyone he could wired up for a blood scene.

The director said in the commentary that it was a real dead dog, but they did not kill it. They bought the corpse from a dog pound.

reply

Incorrect there. In the commentary on the DVD, there was no mention of the dog, or how that scene was filmed. The director and cinematographer skipped over the scene completely and discussed other things.

He's referring to the director's commentary track on the behind-the-scenes reel in the bonus features section of the DVD.
The director indeed does say that the dogs are real, but they didn't kill them. They bought the carcasses from the local humane society.

Know what I mean?
