Fallen Angel

I saw this movie when I was 12 years old and it has stayed with me all these years. It is a very disturbing movie.

I was 21 years old when this movie premiered on CBS and it haunted me for a long time. Richard Masur was brilliantly cast against type as a charming pedophile and the late Dana Hill was wonderful as the teenage girl with whom he became obsesssed. A unique motion picture experience that haunts to this very day. Masur should have won an Emmy for this.

I agree. He turned in a wonderful performance in a very hard to play part as the pedophile/pornographer.

I was 6 or 7 when it came out, & to this day it has stuck with me. I guess parents were using it to show kids what could happen to them.. from someone they know.. not only the creepy man in the Van. This film gave me a rather tainted view of Richard Masur, because he forever became that pervy man to me. Everyone acted out their roles very well, & I'm surprised this is not on dvd. I loved when her mother came & rescued everyone & I think she hit RM with her purse or something.

reply

If the movie were made today, the mother would have ended him (or at least his privates) right then and there. She never would have let that happen to Ralphie or Randy.

reply

Nah, Lew Hunter did a great job developing the characters and it seemed important to have Jennifer grow as a teenager and recover as a victim by testifying against him. That was a key scene in the end when Frank (her mom's boyfriend) supported her.

I too am a big fan of this potent and disturbing made-for-TV shocker. Richard Masur and Dana Hill are both outstanding in this picture. Moreover, I wish this fine film would come out on DVD already; my beat-up used VHS copy barely even plays anymore.

I enjoy keeping busy. Satan finds work for idle hands.

After I saw Fallenm Angel I foubd it hard Ton accept Ricjard in other parts

reply

Yeah, After all these years, whenever I see that actor I think "pervert" from Fallen Angel. LOL He played it spot on.

reply

My bro thinks the role ruined Richard Masur's career.

reply

He's done a ton of work since FA and he was elected president of SAG. I think he did just fine for himself.

reply

Jennifer: (looking at a picture of her eating an ice cream cone) I look like an anteater!

Pervert: I never wanted to be an ant....until NOW!

Blegh! I almost threw up all over my tv.

reply

i didn't see the original broadcast, but every year after it would be on around 2am weekends. 1st time i saw it,i was 12 too. & it creeped me out the rest of the weekend.

I agree about Masur. Just like I think of Ted Danson as the incest dad in that other TV movie.

reply

That was "Something About Amelia." Another good one.

I saw them both as a teen and they each really made an impact on me. Who knows if something I picked up from there caused me to be protected from some similar situation.

I'm Canadian and was 12, a boy, when it came out. It certainly stuck in my mind and always made me cautious of elders that were 'too nice' as I grew up. I was a fan of Dana Hill, who was excellent in the role. The only other thing I remember seeing her in were some of the 'Vacation' series of movies.

Sheesh! I just read she must have been 16 or 17 when she made that, and that she died at 32 (stroke as a complication of diabetes). She died way too young. With her portrayal, who knows how many young lives she helped save.

reply

Dana Hill's breakthrough role was "Fallen Angel". The seventeen year old Hill played twelve year old molestation victim Jennifer Phillips, a role which earned her a Young Artist Award for Best Young Actress in a Television Special. Her diabetes affected her growth and caused serious health complications. While filming the 1981-1982 CBS series "The Two Of Us", the seventeen year old Hill would sometimes be pulled over by the police while driving to the studio because she looked too young to drive.

She was awesome, and gave such a great performance. The completely destroyed look on her face when her coach makes her strip and take drugs is startlingly fine acting. Wish she was still around and producing great work today.
