Did This Movie Ruin Richard Masur's Career?

My bro thinks playing a pedophile in "Fallen Angel" ruined Richard Masur's career. I don't think so. He had too many credits to list afterwards. And he served as President of the Screen Actors Guild from 1995 to 1999.

your brother's claim doesn't make sense. the guy is a successful character actor. he did his most prominent work after this,in big budget feature films. i didn't even know he was president of the screen actor's guild, but that further undermines any notion of his career being ruined.

Masur graduated from Yale. He must be very bright.

You know what's ironic about that? It diffinately didn't ruin his career but it completely creeped me out. So much so that for years afterwards every time I saw him in anything, I would be thinking about this movie. I couldn't shake that disgusting feeling off. It was hard for me to separate the role from the man. Even though I knew better. I guess it had something to do with the fact I was like 12 when I saw the movie. I hadn't ever seen a movie like that before. Weird thing is, I thought it had been an Afternoon Special. Those shows from way back in the day.
I'm watching the movie again right now. Hadn't seen it since I was a kid.
Still every time I've ever seen him in anything, I've always remembered when he played the pedophile.

*See Ned Beatty in "Deliverance"

Look at his filmography. It hasn't hurt his career at all.
