how did the paralyzed husband drive the land rover? it wasn't equipped for a handicap driver

he wasn't paralyzed, he had prosthetic legs so he was able to push it on the brakes and accelorator.

Actually, it did appear to be equipped with hand controls. You can see a curved bar below the steering wheel in some shots.
