Gawain-Llancelot duel, bad continuity?

I know that the film was chopped alot by John Boorman, but the duel scene jumps inexplicably.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tIbpFcmj1XI

At one point in the duel between Gawain and Llancelot they are both unhorsed, fight (Gawain with a weird warhammer) and then both gasp for breath.

Jump of scene as if someone has edited out a minute or two.

Gawain is NOW armed with a spike and suddenly Llancelot is half on his feet, scuttling away as his previous wound (night in the forest) cripples him with pain.

Yes! I noticed many continuity errors when watching it today!

Must have been a bad editor, or a hurried/interfered with release?

reply

And yet it’s still a masterpiece. It’s like you’re complaining that a gorgeous woman’s breasts are not of equal size.

reply

Noooo, I'm observing on a public forum, which is the aim here?

Masterpiece is SUBJECTIVE, without the childish sexual ''comparison''.

reply

Observe all you want. My points remain: (1) This, even with its flaws, is the definitive cinematic telling of Mallory’s Le Morte d’Arthur, and (2) Women’s breasts matter greatly to very young children.

reply

Grow up, moron. My observations remain valid.

Stop your immature boob fetish. Boy

reply

I don't think it was a childish comparison. Otherwise he would have said "boobies" and ended the sentence with "teeheehee".

reply

All women have breasts of unequal size. It's just that it's not noticeable in most women.

As for this movie, I've always felt that it had been butchered. The editing is terrible.

reply

Breasts absent surgery are of unequal size. Not all.

reply

Watched it again and that duel was obviously cut to ribbons...then quickly hobbled back together in a rush?

Several crude editing jumps and odd weapons appearing?

reply

Is there a better link? This is not of the duel.

I think today’s viewers expect very very literal editing. I just think it can be safely assumed the intent was to just cut directly to a part later in the duel. I don’t think they were trying to fool anyone or thought nobody would notice

I agree, it jumps about too much.

reply

They were attempting a "montage", but didn't do a good job of it.

reply

Yeah, it does.

Sadly I think there were too many continuity issues due to various factors, not least delays due to bad weather during shooting in Ireland.
