I Dont think so! And plus anything is better than Driller Killer.

Both were banned in the Video Nastie scandal of the 80s.
Evilspeak is one of my favourite movies, but i though driller killer wasnt too good, bad lieutenant was better.

This is one of the worst, most unwatchable movies that I had the displeasure of seeing. The violence is pointless, the evil laughable and the plot pointless. It's just a very bad, very cruel movie with no redeeming values. Probably the worse horror movie, bar none, that I have ever seen.

reply

Wow, I rated Evilspeak a 10/10.

I loved this movie, the first time it scared me (I was 5) and the more recent time I watched it, when I was 25 (and still kind of creped out). Is it a 10? No. Is it even a 7? Probably pushing it there. However, that is what makes this movie so great- the fact that it's so horrible.

You must not be really into horror flix if you're dissing this one.

serejosh37, I can only assume you've seen very few horror movies. This one's got a cast of actors who can actually act, some fantastic special effects, effective atmosphere and great production design... Sure the story's a bit of a cliché, but the movie's got a lot going for it. I certainly can't think of another film where pigs are the villain's henchmen, so I've gotta give 'em props for that bit of originality. Not the greatest film I've ever seen -- but off of the top of my head I could probably list 40 that are much, much worse.

I thought it was passable. Driller Killer is a classic for the dialog alone.

Actually, I have seen quite a few during my life. I do admire the films of Fulci, Argento, Mario and Lamberto Bava, Dan Curtis, Hammer etc. This movie bothered me not because it has no redeeming values but that it was amateurish, inane and totally pointless.

Fulci's Gates of Hell and The Beyond were just as pointless but they were entertaining nonetheless because the Director knew what he was doing. The same with Baron Blood and Lisa and the Devil which all had moments of pure suspense and terror in them.

No, murdering an innocent puppy, the wild pigs and the reanimated corpse deciding to do surgery on some guys chest is not my idea of a good horror movie. Another movie that came out around the same time, "Fear No Evil" was just as depressing and pointless but was so much better made, and Stefan Arngrim was a much better actor than Clint Howard.

Wow, I hate this movie. If you like it, that's fine. We can disagree. By the way, I do like Driller Killer and other Abel Ferrara films.

You want to watch a good horror flick? Watch anything with Barbra Streisand.

Well, everyone has different tastes. However, I enjoy all horror flix - even the so-called 'bad' flix. Sometimes watching a mindless film can ease my mind AND make me laugh at how ridiculous it is. So titles like 'Evilspeak' proudly sit on my shelf next to 'classics' such as 'Psycho', 'Halloween', 'The Shining', and 'The Burning'.

'Evilspeak' is just one of those movies that you can watch with friends while downing beer, pizza, and hot wings and not feel 'guilty' doing so. It doesn't have to be done all the time of course...

Mindless entertainment... try it sometime.

This Was a great movie, was terribly cheesy but for all the right reasons. It was made a long time ago and people didnt know anything about making effects look good. I really enjoyed this movie and it shows you that people can make good films. Even without the excessive gore i love from films like august underground and fulci films. Good story line. Great for a laugh (even if it is just at the cheesyness. And an easy to follow story line that is gripping enough to be able to enjoy more than once. Thank the Warlord of horror for movies like this.

It's not fair to compare those two films. Driller Killer was made for $20,000. For what Ferrara had to spend, it is friggin' awesome.

the driller killer is a fantastic peace of cinema!

Everything is better than The Driller Killer.

I like both this film and Driller Killer. I wonder what that says about me.
