produced by Daving Hemmings?

...as in THE David Hemmings? The actor from all the 60's and 70's crime dramas and mysteries? I was wondering how this little gory classic fit into things with it's curious Australian background but more Italian way of delivering lots of over the top violence, silly script, poor pyrotechnics, and a few name actors.

Actually, this is one of my favorite films... or at least it would be if that ending explosion weren't so damn pathetic. Those planes fly and fly and fly, and the explosion caused by their bombs looks just as big as the ones when the prisoners were throwing hand grenades. :(

The Italian movie FINAL EXECUTIONER (1983) has a VERY similar plot and setting to thism, though vastly inferior compared to this, except for the sex scene... and was directed by Romolo Girolami, whose nephew Enzo G. Castellari directed LA VIA DELLA DROGA (1977) starring... David Hemmings!

I saw the new documentary 'Not Quite Hollywood' on Australian exploitation films of the 70s and 80s... seems David Hemmings (THAT David Hemmings indeed) was quite a component of the Aussie schlock scene at that time. He even directed one such film and starred in a fair few more.

This film BTW is playing at the Brisbane Film Festival in a couple of weeks in a sidebar devoted to Australian exploitation (and also including 'Long Weekend', 'Patrick' and 'Stone').

Dude had a really wierd career path, hell of a CV. Remember seeing it in the VHS boom in the early 80s and thinking it was the work of an idiot but just caught up with it again after seeing Not Quite Hollywood and loved it.

Hemmings certainly did have a varied career. He was great in Antonioni's Blow-Up and Dario Argento's Deep Red, and all the other films he appeared in.
