Begging to be remade!!!!

This movie has haunted me for years!! For the longest time I didn't even dare speak of it for fear of awakening whatever it might be. I would love to see what someone like Rob Zombie could do with this deeply terrifying tale.
I shutter to think....

Actually a remake has been tossed around for years. I'm not sure of what the current status is.

Anyone but Rob Zombie....please!

James Wan should direct it. He understands creepy horror.

I was thinking that with the explosion of paranormal horror films in recent years that this exact film could be released today as if it were brand new and people would barely even be able to tell the difference. I think it holds up well and has aged wonderfully. To me, it makes The Conjuring look like Winnie the Pooh in comparison as a matter of fact. It is a very creepy film that anyone (especially those who believe in the supernatural) could be afraid of. As for Rob Zombie remaking it, although I am definitely a fan of his, I don't think it would be a good idea for him to do another remake at this point in his career. People already complain "He doesn't have a single original thought in his head, all he can do is make inferior versions of someone else's work" so if he made another remake, that would just make them think they're right.

I've been waiting for you, Ben.

Agreed, especially about movies like The Conjuring. I mean yeah The Conjuring and others of its ilk have some creepy moments here and there but man The Entity just makes them all pale by comparison in the creep/scare factor. The entire movie is just tense and the sheer mystery and ferocity of "The Entity" itself only adds to it. The ending alone (Welcome Back Cun*!) was scarier than the Paranormal Activity movies put together imo.

There was a remake in the works, with a release date even, for some time. The release date kept being pushed forward with no explanation.
Then oddly enough it was scrapped.

This film could be remade well, but its doubtful. The way this was made, and the 'film style' of its day would be diminished by today's film quality actually.

The only way it could be remotely scary is if they film it ala "Paranormal Activity".

"I'd say this cloud is Cumulo Nimbus."
"Didn't he discover America?"
"Penfold, shush."

You have hit the nail on the head. The absolute scariest movies are those made from the late 1960s to the early 1980s and that is because of the way that films were shot back then. A remake would only be a huge disappointment. It is too bad that this film could not simply be re-released so many more could enjoy this very underrated movie.

Anytime anyone asks me what my fav scary movie is I always answer "The Entity", I am not sure if that's because it IS the scariest movie I have seen or if its because it was the FIRST scary movie that effected me. Either way it is a great scary movie that does not to remade. I agree that a remake would ruin this awesome movie. It would probably be remade with terrible actors, terrible CGI, and an updated terrible script. It needs to be re-released and enjoyed for how good it is.

Fuck Penfold and you, supercilious twat leftover from a dead message board.

Let's just hope there isn't a remake, Hollywood does tend to fvck them up.

There were plans for a remake. Hideo Nakata who directed the original Japanese "Ringu" (The Ring), "Dark Water", and later the American version of "Ring tWO", was in talks to Direct the remake. As most often it happens in Hollywood, this never made it out of "Development Hell". But who knows? Some resurface, years later, and get made. IMO, this one is worthy of such, in the "right" hands so to speak.

I have not seen this movie, but from what I read in the storyline, it sounds similar to Lovely Molly (2011) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1707392/

I am not a fan of remakes but if it is the only way to somehow get these films on dvd then I would vote for it. I see it as nothing to see though but PLEAES!!!!! Not Rob Zombie, he is too much into the same old *beep* and I am sick of it. Sex, drugs, foul language, all are okay but one gets tired of it.

Please no remake!
The film is very good and i don't see what could be improved especially if the remake would be directed by Rob Zombie!
