Poor choice of music ruined the scares

It's been mentioned before on here but that accompanying music that sounds like the first few chords of a metal song, whenever the demon strikes, really does diminish a lot of the horror of those scenes. Whose bright idea was it to use it? If you've ever heard The White Stripes' The Hardest Button to Button' it kinda sounds like the intro to that playing on repeat. They actually stop using it halfway into the movie but by then it doesn't matter as the second half isn't as scary anyway with the introduction of the parapsychologists and the capturing the entity with liquid helium plot, which is ridiculous by the way.

Thought they could have built up the tormenting more gradually than begin with a full on rape as well. Aside from that and the above issues it's a decent movie overall.

While I agree that the attack scenes could have been more built up, I do think the choice of music was appropriate. Especially for the type of attack.
Its harsh, beating chords we hear, meant to 'imitate' the rape itself basically.

"I'd say this cloud is Cumulo Nimbus."
"Didn't he discover America?"
"Penfold, shush."

Agree 100%. Director Sidney Furie made a fatal mistake in using the Dario Argento/Goblin style metal guitar for the attack sequences. If he'd shot it like a documentary, as William Friedkin did for THE EXORCIST, this would have been a much better, and more powerful, film.

I love the music. It does have a heavy metal feel about it, but at least to me heavy metal sounds full of anger and rage. So I think choosing angry, aggressive sounding music showed the intense amount of hatred the demon had towards Carla and made it that much more effective.

I heard it for the first time in years and I clearly remember it freaking me out in my early teens. There is something very unforgiving with the arrangement, like you're taking an unrelenting trashing.

The silly music was utterly stupid! After watching it for 25min. I started muting the sound on every "scare". I cannot recall being this annoyed with music to any movie like this one, ever. Just dumb, real dumb.

The music was perfect. What do you know?

The music made it feel cheesier than it actually was. The theme is great though.
