This is the best supernatural horror movie of the 1980's IMO

I thought that this movie is the best supernatural horror movie of the 1980's am I the only one who thinks this??

I must agree on this! I wasn't even born in the 1980's - I'm a millennial, so this makes me a pretty pretentious bastard, and I have watched over a thousand films, horror included, but this film exceeded my expectations! I thought it was so damn good! I mostly appreciated the lack of CGI distorted gory images that you see in most horror films nowadays, the exploration of the medical aspect, and the photography. I will definitely recommend it to my friends and other people!

Agree. In fact, this is one of the few 1980s horror movies that still creeps me out to this day. I love many of the most famous h-movies made that decade, but more for their sheer entertainment value (and cheese), and not because they freak me out the way The Entity managed to do. It's got sort of a documentary feel to it, without any awkward handheld camera movements that would no doubt dominate the movie if it had been made today. There's little comical relief as well, making for a pretty bleak and disturbing experience. I think the villain itself is the best thing about it since there's next to no explanation for why it exist and why it torments the protagonist - just some uncontrollable force that care little to nothing about the harm it causes.

Compared to many of the movies made back then I think it has dated quite well in spite of occasional outdated effects.

Absolutely. I think it's one of the top 5 best horror movies of the '80s supernatural or otherwise. It's a very powerful film that makes you feel so incredibly sorry for the lead character and fear what will happen to her. It's also scary to think that it could happen to any person at any moment. There was no apparent reason she was chosen and nothing all that special about her. She was just a random, normal, everyday person. To me that is very scary.

It's definitely one of the best, probably joint best with Poltergeist (1982).
