I often wonder who slept with who to get Brooke Shields the parts in the movies. She is one of the worst actresses in history. With Paris Hilton coming in fast.

I don't hate the movie, but if there was ever one in need of remake it's this one! The book is so much better and deserves a proper adaptation.

FrenchHornGirl, you are assuming that getting a part in a film necessarily requires acting talent. Hollywood first and foremost considers beauty and star power. Brooke had both, although she was a horrid actress.
shareI don't see why it should be remade. A completely different story could be told about a boy who becomes obsessed with a girl. A modern adaptation of the book might be even less faithful to the source, and I hate to think of a remake of the theme song.
