the relationships between David and Huge as the movie topic?

I saw this movie in Sept of 1981. Everytime it is on I watch it, although it is a rather ridiculous movie. I think the issues was obsession, but not just David obsessed. The movie seems to lead us to think the Father is also infatuated with his daughter Jade, now I could be wrong. When he sees David in the bedroom as he is walking up the stairs he is very upset, and it seems like he gets more and more upset about it until he gets physical with David that day. Did he have to push David away from the house when he was telling him not to see Jade for 30 days? And the way he ran after him at the stop light. David is obsessed and not mentally prepared for a relationship. but Huge is also too spontaneous and rather hypocritical.
