THAT WAS A MOVIE 😐

LOOKED PRETTY DAMN GOOD...VERY DARK AND GRITTY...BUT THE DUDE FROM CHICAGO HOPE AND GHOSTBUSTERS II AS THE LEAD WAS DISTRACTING FOR ME...ALSO I FOUND THE FILM TO BE BORING IN SPOTS...OVERALL IT WAS PRETTY ENTERTAINING THOUGH.

I think I liked it more than you did. I'm not sure I would have ever said it was boring. I loved the special effects, though. They did a marvellous job putting it together. Plus, the story - while never straying far from classic fantasy tropes - is well-done and well-told; they didn't just leave the FX to do the work for them.

I'm chuckling, though, because I am 100% in agreement about Peter MacNicol, despite not having ever seen Chicago Hope. He struck me as too "contemporary" in his style, so he was fighting his natural vibe the whole time.

But, yes, overall I really like this movie.

I CAN SEE WHY YOU WOULD REALLY LIKE IT...I WISH I HAD SEEN IT WHEN I WAS A KID...IT WOULD HAVE BEEN A FAVORITE FOR SURE.

It's been ages since I've seen it, but I remember liking it a lot when I was young. I must have watched it at least a half dozen times.

I'm not sure what I would think of it today. I might have to watch it soon but I just did a search for it on my roku, and no one has it available for stream right now. Ahh, my library probably has it on DVD... I'll have to check it out.

I saw the movie again recently, after several decades.

I liked the movie back in the day and I like it now, it's not great cinema but it's an enjoyable bit of fluff. Okay, not completely fluffy, there were some very dark scenes, but Fantasy genre stuff has to have some darkness to give the hero's struggle some real depth, and this movie did it right. It's not a great movie, but it's a cut above most 1980s Fantasy genre stuff.

I watched it while working on a big data project for work and I honestly can't remember much beyond decent costumes. I'll check it out again.

This was Peter MacNicols's first credited acting role. I didn't mind him, but his poor attempt at a somewhat English accent was annoying. They should have just cast a young British actor, who could sound better.

He became better known for Ally McBeal 1997–2002, 103 episodes and for Numb3rs 2005–2010, 94 episodes.

Disney and Paramount should have marketed this better. The dragon effects were very good. Ralph Richardson was great. I used this title for Stonekeeper game #1107.

This movie has by far my favorite dragon design in a movie. And I love how violent it is for a Disney movie. Also, totally agree the lead guy was a bad choice.

Ok, will watch!
