Dragonslayer - Celebrating 30 years

Its been 30 years since its release and Paramount has not yet given this movie the love it deserves.. still waiting on a blu-ray edition...either from Paramount or Disney.

A terrific fantasy film..one of my favorites growing up. The dragon still sends chills down my spine and the acting, sound effects, and music are just as equally great.

Would be nice to see this film get more credit. How awesome would it be to see this remastered with commentaries from the actors/director?

Its a crime this movie has been shunned. I own the dvd version thankfully but we seriously need a blu-ray edition. I am guessing they are wondering how to market it because of a lack of any dragon movies as of recent years.. maybe they are planning a remake eventually (Del Toro?) and they are waiting for that. With Skyrim just released in the gaming world its obvious the world still loves dragons. Its the 30th Anniversary too and would have made marketing it easier.

We all need to email Paramount/Disney

Now I am going to celebrate Dragonslayer - It's 30 years - Its cast/crew by drinking some honey mead and sitting back to watch some movie magic.

My brother loves this movie! My parents would let us watch it as kids (and shield our eyes during the gory parts). Even today, I am very impressed with the effects they used on the dragon herself. Despite being a puppet, Vermithrax truly does look real in that scene where she and Galen face off in the cave. It's pretty obvious a lot of love and thought was put into this film. I've also grown to like Valerian more. She was a very brave and bold girl, to do the things she did. She never let the obstacles that society put in front of her, regardless of being female. Incidentally, she was a better match for Galen anyway.

Almost 40 years old and it's still great

Yeah, the original poster needs to learn up on his maffmatix!

It is coming up on 40 years. I don't think I have seen this thing in over 35 years.

It'd be cool if Disney did something this dark and gruesome once again.

Just saw it for the first time. Good think I told my young kids to leave after 5 minutes. Quebec ratings are crazy cuz it’s rated G over here. Gruesome indeed!

Good movie too.
