hey, can someone ruin the ending for me??? SPOILERS maybe

hi, i remember watching this as "pranks" here in the UK in the mid90s and i remember the end really pissed me off, maybe because i had found the whole thing such a chore to sit through, and depressing.... i took it back to ourprice (remember them???) and got "intruder" instead which turned out to be amazing!

anyway something reminded me about this film and it occured to me that i couldnt rememeber the end that pissed me off so much.... can someone describe the final scene/s for me??? i have a feeling it involved everybody dieing, or maybe the final girl being killed as the police arrive or something.... its very vague, as i said i feeling quite tired and depressed by the time the end came and now i cant remember it at all!

so, can any die-hard fans give a good description of the final scenes?

cheers!

Rob

hmmmm, happy film then :) i think i remember it now, don't the police arrive and you think its going to end, and the girl is burnt alive as the FINAL scene....
thanks for clearing that up, i definitely knew it had a downbeat ending, i may watch it again at some point to see if my opinions to it now differ from when i was younger, but i definitely remember not liking the end at the time!

I actually haven't SEEN the movie (I kinda would like to, actually) I read the WHOLE sypnosis here: http://www.terrortrap.com/reviews/dormthatdrippedblood/index.htm

Enjoy! :-)

Not only does the main female character in the movie die, but the killer goes free after another man gets shot by the police who they think is the real killer!

It was all kinda dull if you ask me. I didn't really care enough for any of the characters for me to get pissed off then the final girl got it.

I love these old 80's slasher pics, from the bad hairdos to the awful acting and dialog--it's all part of "charm" of these movies.

I was actually getting into this film, but the ending, has has been described, is truly mean-spirited, unnecessary and unsatisfying.

Most 80's horror movie murderers get killed themselves at the end of the movie (even if they do bring them back for a sequel!), so it was strange how they ended this movie. I really hated that guy, too, so it was a little disappointing!

reply

Yeah, usually the killer gets it in the end, and if they decide they want a sequel, they'll devise a lame explanation for him "not really being dead" or something. I liked the ending to this because it was fairly courageous and bleak, but I don't want to praise this film too much because it's not that great.

reply

I actually liked the ending because it was so different. Every now and then the bad guy needs to get away with it.

1987 s night screams had the same type ending..

I agree.

The "Final Girl" formula has been done to death (no pun). It makes every movie predictable and boring. Sure, they can throw in some nifty kill scenes and all the red herrings they want but in the end it's the same movie you've seen over and over again.

It's refreshing when everyone dies including the final girl. Breaks the monotony at least.

I really liked Bereavement (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1100051/) because of its ending. It stays with you long after the move is done.

I thought it was funny that you mentioned getting Intruder as a replacement for this.

I enjoy it, too (and agree that it's an improvement over this one), but the endings are very similar. Each ends with the killer tricking the dumb cops into believing that he is an innocent victim, and framing some other character for the murders.
