the music from ear piece

We just took this movie (which both my husband & I love) out to watch again and since last time we did not use IMDB, thought I would check viewer comments. I was surprised that one very disgruntled and disappointed viewer of this movie claimed that the bad guy was listening to "classical music" as I recall the music coming was his earpiece was a polka. Will find out soon enough but at this point I would say that some people just to not "get things" even something as simple as a type of music.

I always thought Le Cure (Pinon) was listening to French accordion cafe music, but as I wouldn't know a polka even if you hit with me with one who am I to say? Do you think the filmakers meant to be contemptuous to this type of disposable music by having an odious creep listen to it - or as many of the characters were mutifaceted in that they connected to some sort of art was this his only redeeming virture, and his demise elevated into more than just the bad guy getting his?
A great film regardless.
Supernatural perhaps, baloney perhaps not

Also, to put it in a social history context, this is the New Wave/Late Punk era. Pingnon's character is dressed very much in the style of a punk rocker; the buzz cut, boots, jacket, etc. The fact that we find out in the end that the whole time this character who visually represents the sneering epitome of punk, is listening to the kitchiest of kitchy music Polka music.

Darling, I am trouble of the most spectacular kind!

The guy was constantly telling how he hated everything. Finally, after his death, we got to know one thing he loved.

That was my reaction, plus that stated above, about the contrast between his punk rock facade and his true self.
