Was Alba anyone else's favourite character?

I loved the bitch, she was hilarious... especially when talking about "très chic crooked straws" :P

Nope - my favourite was the mysterious all-knowing Gorodish who always manages to be in the right place at the right time, and deals with people without violence (remember the lift operating button trick?)

I rather liked the character of Gorodish as well. A sort of New Wave Doc Savage.

Note: I haven't seen all of the film yet. But that being said, Alba is great! I love the scene where she's singing and she's asking Jules what kind of opera singer she is.

Question: does anyone know if Jules and Cindy kiss?

reply

Anyone know anything about that actress? Her imdb bio is very limited, to say the least, not even her age... anyone know?

I read once that she did a few roles, then pretty much dropped out of sight. Her age is a matter of debate, but it's said she was 15 when she played Alba.

She played her part well. But for me, her character was as shallow and plastic as her mini-skirt. Sheesh, they met while she was shoplifting.

What was it?

reply

I thought she was a very whimsical and charming character. The scene where she tells Jules a story over the 'phone to keep him from falling unconscious after being shot was lovely. I liked her taking her own nude photos as well. Presumably to try and get some sexual attention from somewhere as her would be lover was absorbed with his jigsaw.

Well, she used the nude photos to get away with shoplifting. She asks the suspicious clerk, "can I put my clothes back on now?". Both she and Gorodish start out as rather unlikeable self-absorbed characters. Something about Jules seems to bring out the best in them.

reply

Yes, Alba (the Asian girl) was very lovely and well played character. Perfect for this kind of style-over-substance film. I liked Alba much more than the opera singer.

reply

I liked her too, esp. as she evolved under Jules' influence.

I got the feeling of Gorodish as some kind of angel, and Alba maybe a cherub?

That could be the connection with her name, which means "white one."

They might've been stuck on Earth due to their flaws, and as they perfected, maybe they got to go back.

"Cynthia" wore a lot of white, too, including the notorious gown.

Anyway, lots of style and things to ponder, eh?
