I have been seeing for two years now "Coming Soon to DVD" ! I'm pretty sure the hold up has to do with the music rights. That is usually always the case with music films. DAMN RECORD COMPANIES !!! Come on and get with it !
Penelope was on Henry Rollins' IFC show a few months ago and stated that she was working on them, digitizing and whatnot, so they are definitely in the works but who knows on the rigbts/licensing or a release date.
Two words...Greg Ginn. The ultimate punk rock hypocrite (other than the members of the Dead Kennedys, but that's another story). After fumbling up the great We Jam Econo, he's probably all over this one too. He is probably complaining about the film's representations of Black Flag and, I guess, himself. He probably wants the BF segment doctored in some insane way.
"Corporate rock still sucks"? Yeah, except when you need the money to bail yourself out of a mind-blowing amount of lawsuits because of your excellence in douche baggery.
With the recent Flag/Black Flag lawsuit and Greg Ginn's genuine dickery, I'd say that he is one of the possible hold ups for the release of these movies.
At a screening of it last Friday with Spheeris in attendance (along w/ Lee Ving!) she said the hold up as been due to the fact that she's simply, in her words, "been a chickensh*t about getting around to it". She promised that a boxset of the 3 are coming and that she is planning to make a part 4 but no dates were given, it will probably still be at least another year or two.
