i think the 2nd better but its just a remake of the first a bit like die hard one and two

same, at least I like this one better over the first movie.

I never quite got all the hate for it. I love the dark streets and night themes in this one set in L.A. the music was moody and other times high strung- over all great, the gang itself were goofballs but I'll say it did make for some very funny unintentional comedy at times and of course the action was great. it had good tense moments as well, such the build up when kersey finds his daughter and you just know whats going to happen from there.

just for what its worth I rank them like this;

The second was good fun and sleezy, but the first was more real, and he never got the guys who attack his family back.. Christ,, he didn't even know who they were..

I'd vote for Death Wish II. Death Wish I was more cerebral and philosophical. Death Wish II is much "darker" - the streets are sleazier, the violence more intense and there's no questioning Paul Kersey's actions as in Death Wish I.

Have to agree.
Years ago I preferred part 2, mainly because he got the guys responsible. But on reflection, the original was probably more realistic and over the years I've grown to prefer the original.

I prefer DW2 (it's completely nihilistic, almost expressionist in content, and has the most amazing soundtrack) Taking nothing away from the excellent first movie, but the sequel is definitely in my top ten (if not top five) favourite movies ever made.

Death Wish 2 is the better movie. I think the first movie is pretty dull by comparison.
