Recommend movies like this?

Anyone? Movies which takes place in isolated areas like this, The Thing is one I can think of.

Seraphim Falls, Deadly Pursuit (Shoot to Kill) and First Blood.

This film, also based on a true story, titled As Far As My Feet Will Carry Me will be enjoyed very much by people who liked the concept of Death Hunt. It's a far better movie though an equally good story IMO.

Check out a movie called "The Blockhouse". It is set in perhaps the most isolated place of all.

You would like Jeremiah Johnson

If you want a northern adventure try "Island In The Sky" with John Wayne. If you want Bronson persued by a posse try "Chato's Land".

You really should check out Never Cry Wolf. It is about as isolated as you can get, with most of the film featuring just one man verses nature.

Jeremiah Johnson with Robert Redford & A Man in The Wilderness with Richard Harris, both 1970s era westerns.

Surviving The Game, which starred Ice-T and Rutger Hauer.

All I need is one mic...

The Wild North (1952) is probably the closest you're going to get to Death Hunt...the two make for an exquisite "Yukon adventure" double feature.

But if you're inquiring about survival-esque dramas and adventures sent in frigid environments, you also have:

Scott of the Antarctic

The Savage Innocents

The Trap (1966)

Dersu Uzala

Zero Kelvin

The Snow Walker

The Way Back

And of course, if you're a fan of The Thing, then The Thing from Another World is essential viewing.

I would recommend another Lee Marvin movie called "Shout at the Devil." It stars Marvin, Roger Moore, and Barbara Perkins. Its set in Africa right before and then during World War I. Marvin plays a alcoholic rogue who is a ivory poacher named Flynn O'Flynn and Moore is an Englishman named Sebastian Oldsmith. Its one my favorite movies.
