terrible ripoff

haven't seen anybody else compare this to the piece of crap "Distrubing Behavior". It is an obvious ripoff

I just wanted to start same topic. I also thought that DB is ripoff of this Strange Behavior

The movie that I have known of as Strange Behavior since about 1982 or 1983 was very well written, well acted, well directed, well photographed, etc. for a little-known movie. I will always remember it as one of my favorite movies. Any other movie that tries to copy its uniqueness will fail, I believe.

I never saw Disturbing Behaviour, but I love Strange Behaviour!! When I was a kid, the scene where the main character pees blood, freaked me out forever!!

Wow! I know I may be a day late here on this, but this movie is NOTHING like Disturbing Behavior. The only comparisons between the two are the similar name and that the main idea of the movie is mind control. And that does not constitute as a 'ripoff'. So if you made the same mistake I did and read this message board before watching the movie, don't let those other comments fool you into expecting a movie similar to Disturbing Behavior, that is what I expected.

I agree, having seen both films. Disturbing Behavior is more of a variation on the Stepford Wives than on Strange Behavior. Neither film is anywhere near perfect, but both worth seeing.

If anyone would like to take a minute and read my review of "Disturbing Behavior'" all would be explained... well, mostly. A Doctor (of psychology- in both cases), with revenge on his mind, controls the minds of several teenagers and sends them out to commit murder. This sentence pretty much sums up the central story-line of both films. And there's the TITLE thing as well. Soooo.... please stop jumping on the "These two movies couldn't be more different," band wagon. Especially from those who haven't seen BOTH films. You'll also notice (in my review) that I definitely agree that other Classic Films had influences on this one!

"Reality is only what we TELL each other it is." John Carpenter's "In The Mouth of Madness."

I'm confused, are you saying this film is a rip-off of Disturbing Behavior? Because Disturbing Behavior was released nearly 20 years after Strange Behavior was. I assume you meant that DB is a ripoff of SB, but it's really not. The only similarities are the plot point of brainwashing, but the motives for that brainwashing, it's results, and the entire tone of the two films are completely different.

Both are very enjoyable, unfairly forgotten films that deserve more attention than they ever did receive. Particularly Strange Behavior which should be right there with films like The Burning, Prom Night, and The Prowler in the hearts of 80s slasher-lovers everywhere.

reply

It is not a ripoff at all.

The films are completely different.

as much of a rip off as every mind control film to Invasion Of The Body Snatchers.
really they need to do these teen mind control horror flicks every 10 years, i think they did a good job with disturbing behavior and the faculty. teen conformity horror is always a good theme.

reply

I SINCERELY hope you are not stupid enough to accuse Strange Behavior of ripping of Disturbing Behavior...this film was released in 1981...Disturbing Behavior, an awful film, was released in 1998...

reply

Why do people say things backwards? Disturbing Behavior is after this one. So that means Disturbing Behavior is the rip off. Duh! Now Disturbing Behavior is better than this one. So this thread should say why is Disturbing Behavior is a rip off of this movie and why not of done Disturbing Behavior instead of this one? Well, simple. They haven't thought of the technology for Disturbing Behavior when this one was done.

This thread is a perfect example of not thinking before saying something.

I am a gore watching freak!!!

If it don't have it, it isn't worth the watch.

If you read carefully, he actually said Disturbing Behavior is Strange Behavior ripoff. It's other people who read it wrong.

But I don't agree with OP. Beside similar titles and "mind control" those two have nothing else in common. At least if I remember DB correctly, it's must have been like 15 years since I saw it, so details might not be on my side.
