A timeless classic...

Riveting and atmospheric. Stellar performances, especially Tonya Crowe and Charles Durning. Evil and prejudice are very real here, and Bubba's death is avenged in appropriately nasty ways. Good triumphs.

The film didn't need gore or special effects to be scary.

And it was way better than any horror today. While it contained the plot of 'revenge from beyond the grave,' the ending leaves you wondering, asking questions.

A rollicking old school horror, directed with taste, pace and wit. The confines of the made-for-TV movie rule book (let's just pretend one exists) certainly helped beef up the less gore is more approach, and provoke a fresh, stylish take on the old revenge from beyond themes. And Larry Drake (typically a 'I know the face, but not the name' type actor) has certainly distinguished himself with me for his full blooded, and oddly moving performance, not too far removed from Karloff in those early Frankensteins. Lingers in the mind and a great example of the power of the economical approach.

Yes, this movie is incredible. The scenery, characters, music, and story are all amazing. Charles Durning's character is the most despicable I've ever seen in a film. He took something completely innocent and decided to twist it and create something sinister and disgusting out of it all to project his own wicked thoughts onto someone else. I met someone like that in real life recently so thinking of him made the character all the more dislikable. It is great writing and great acting put together which created the most vile character in history. Overall this film is one of my favorites and I can always enjoy watching it.
