The manliest movie ever?

So full of testosterone and male toxicity. What say you?

reply

"male toxicity"...Jesus, I'll be glad when this anti-intellectual age is over.

reply

What makes you think it will end? Seems to me it's just a downward slope.

reply

Go woke. Go broke! I'm not watching the woke crap. I can read the comics. Netflix is developing a Conan show but I'm not optimistic. There is a lot of competition in the modern era. I can just play video games if the tv/movie selection is lame. There are also older tv/movies that consumers can watch. I tried to get my dad to watch Gladiator but he refused since he had already seen Spartacus. He might have a point but I think both movies are worth watching.

reply

I'm trying to be optimistic. I know things look bleak, but the world has been through nonsense like this before. And enlightenment has always followed.

reply

"anti-intellectual age " ?

what is that please?
(its a bit hard to read your response to the OP co the OP is a mixed message itself)

reply

If you can't figure it out, don't worry about it. You'll do just fine in this age.

reply

I thought the snowflakes and SJWs and woke purveyors were all anti brawny white male muscle men like Conan and all for "intellectual" coffee drinking top knot types ?

Or are you just using "anti intellectual" as anyone who disagrees with your stand point cos they must be dumb and not an intellectual to see the obvious right path?

reply

The "left," aka, The Establishment, is predicated on a total absence of critical inquiry. Because we live in an age of inversions, the left will be the first to volunteer just how 'intellectual' they are; But to be an (actual) intellectual, you must not only be allowed to ask questions, you must insist on it. But ask a 'leftist' a question about any of the corporate-approved beliefs they've been told constitute the truth, and you will be met with the most absurd ad hominem imaginable. They have so thoroughly worn out words like 'racist' and 'nazi' that those words, once very powerful and important, have no meaning.

I could go on, but hopefully I've communicated what I mean by anti-intellectual.

reply

Nothing wrong with a manly movie.

reply

I know right? I guess I should have put male toxicity in quotes. The first reply was a sjw bitchin about me using his own terms. Go figure. I have a very short list of manly movies. Its a long gone era. Its a shame.

reply

[deleted]

Ah right I get you.

reply

I know right? I guess I should have put male toxicity in quotes
Yes! at the very minimum , or better still try to put some words together that actually convey what you mean .
All you've done here is start one of the unbiquitous "SJW / woke Shit" arguments.

...and for the record "Sorcerer" with Roy Sheider is The manliest movie ever 😁👍

reply

Sorcerer is definitely on the list, top 3.

reply

Cool Hand Luke is on the list too.

reply

This might be Arnold's manliest role but Predator is a team of manly dudes taking on the ultimate fighter. Clint Eastwood was tough as Dirty Harry and in all those westerns. Sylvester Stallone's Rambo character has to get votes for manliest hero.

Thulsa Doom may not be human so his toxicity might not be considered male toxicity. Conan had a woman on his team and I believe he treated her with respect. Conan did punch a camel in the movie but I believe he was heroic throughout the rest of the film.

reply

I think you're right, "Predator" is even manlier! Just a bunch of macho guys fighting a macho guy alien to the death, and the only female around is just there to deliver exposition.

reply

And not only were they manly, but they were real men of honor. Not one of them tried to do anything untoward to her and they were even trying to protect her.

reply

All of that is misogynistic in our modern world.

reply

In all fairness Dillon (that son of a bitch) lied to the team as to why they were there.

Dillon - my orders were to get somebody we knew it could crack these bastards!

Dutch - So you cooked up a story and dropped the six of us in a meat grinder.

What happened to you, Dillon?

You used to be somebody I could trust.

Dillon - I woke up. Why don't you?

You're an asset, an expendable asset. And I used you to get the job done. Got it?

Dutch - My men are not expendable.

reply

Yes, that's true. That was a shady thing he did. BUT, in his defense, it was for a good cause. The job required the best, and they were the best. And even more importantly, even though he considered them expendable, he voluntarily went with them and knew that he himself was expendable as well. He put his own life on the line right along with theirs to try to get the needed job done.

reply

True that. Plus he and Mac made their peace before he was skewered by the predator.

One of the all time greatest films.

reply

no?

reply

Gimme more more more!!!! 👍👍👍👍

reply

"The Wild Bunch" is definitely number one on the Manly Movies list, but Conan the Barbarian (1982) is definitely in the top ten, and has the honor of being the only Fantasy film on the list.

reply

Conan explains a manly movie and what the main character must do.....

crush his enemies, see them driven before him, and hear the lamentations of their women.

reply

Is it bad that it's hard to say masculine in a positive light these days - even though I see you've used the term 'male toxicity' in jest here 😀

reply

Exactly. The whole concept of male toxicity is nonsense.
