Would Thorgrim have stood a chance against Conan . . .

... in the temple had Rexor not come at him straight on? The way it plays out, Conan battles Rexnor just long enough for Thorgrim to try to make a fatal blow. I realize he wielded his hammer with tremendous skill, but a sword moves much more swiftly.

There's no doubt Conan kicks all sorts of ass with his sword and he might've been able to take on Thorgrim one on one, but he's such a tank it'd take a few hits from Conan to bring him down permanently. However, one or two connections from Thorgrim with his hammer would absolutely destroy Conan so it's a risky fight -- and he barely recovered when Thorgrim tapped his shoulder during the battle of the mounds.

You have to remember Conan only beat Rexor because the spirit of Valeria intervened and MAYBE Conan would be able to do some damage on Thorgrim, but I'd imagine it'd be the equivalent of trying to take down an angry bull with a kitchen knife.

You make some valid points, SmokestackSteve. Thanks for the thoughtful response.

Let's not forget Rexor came up on Conan while Conan was watching Thorgrim die. We don't know how that fight would have ended had Conan been prepared for Rexor's attack.

(That would never have happened to the Conan in the stories by the way. I say that as a fan of both the movie and the source material.)

Requiescat in pace, Krystle Papile. I'll always miss you.
